Removal of Dead Animals
In the interest of protecting the health and safety of citizens in the County, the Road Department provides removal of deceased wild animals from the public right-of-way throughout the unincorporated area of Comal County.
In addition to removal of dead animals from the public right-of-way, the Road Department also picks up animals animals that have died on private property, in some situations. Removal of a deceased animal from private property is solely at the discretion of Comal County.
Comal County reserves the right to refuse disposal of livestock and all domesticated animal "pets". In addition, the property owner must be present at the time of pick up in order to sign a release form.

Liability and safety issues do not allow county personnel to remove dead animals from within or under a privately owned structure.
To report a dead animal, click on the link below which will open a map where you can pinpoint the location of the issue. Dead animals must be on a County Maintained Road or private property for us to pick them up.
After identifying the location of the issue, you will fill out a short form where we ask that you provide us with your contact details in case we need to ask you for more information. You can also receive status updates of your report by providing this information.
There is also a place for you to upload a photo if you are able, as this will also be helpful.
