Morton Preserve


This beautiful, natural site was purchased through a US Fish and Wildlife Service Grant as part of the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is protected and managed for the benefit of endangered species, including the Golden-Cheeked Warbler.

The Morton Preserve is located on Bluff End Rd, just off of River Rd, between the Second and Third Crossings. To visit, you will need to place a reservation using the scheduling tool below.

Park Rules

Please keep the following rules in mind when considering a visit to the Morton Preserve. These rules are in place to protect the natural habitat of our endangered species and all native wildlife who call this property home.

  • Stay on the Trail at all times
  • No dogs are allowed at the preserve
  • No Smoking
  • No Alcoholic Beverages
  • No Glass Containers
  • No Motorized Vehicles on the Trail
  • No Littering
  • No Camping

Scheduling

The Morton Preserve is available for visitors to reserve time to visit during the months of September through February. As an important habitat, only a limited number of visitors are allowed at a time.

Please select a date that you would like to visit. Once a date is selected, available times will be shown for that day. Please select an available time from the list for when you plan to arrive.

Note that you must make any weekend reservations by 4:00 PM on Friday. Any submissions made on Saturdays or Sundays will not be seen until Monday at 8:00 AM
