Morton Preserve
This site was purchased through a US Fish and Wildlife Service Grant as part of the Cooperative Endangered Species Conservation Fund administered by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It is protected and managed for the benefit of endangered species, including the Golden-Cheeked Warbler. The Morton Preserve has a 0.5 mile trail for walking.
The Morton Preserve is located on Bluff End Rd, just off of River Rd, between the Second and Third Crossings. To visit, you will need to place a reservation using the
scheduling tool below.
Park Rules
Please keep the following rules in mind when considering a visit to the Morton Preserve. These rules are in place to protect the natural habitat of our endangered species and all native wildlife who call this property home.
- Park closes at sunset
- Stay on the Trail at all times
- No dogs are allowed at the preserve
- No on-site facilites
- No Smoking
- No Alcoholic Beverages
- No Glass Containers
- No Motorized Vehicles on the Trail
- No Littering
- No Camping
Scheduling
The Morton Preserve is available for visitors to reserve time to visit during the months of September through February. As an important habitat, only a limited number of visitors are allowed at a time.
